Lighter side of events...

I got this problem from a friend of mine and I found it quite interesting. See if you guys can find the correct solution...

Karen lives in a new neighbourhood near Philadelphia. She has an adorable kid by name Cathy. Cathy is 21 years younger to Karen. Six years from now, Karen will be 5 times as old as Cathy. If all the above were true, what is the whereabouts of Cathy's father now?

Ok !!I got this right!! Wherever Cathy's father is, he is as close to Karen as possible....:-)Good one!!

I think I 'zero-ed' in on the solution after Survivor's response.

But before that I came up with Karen's age to be 27 3/4 (which solved the equation). But it does not give a clue about Father's status.

If the multiple is 4 then i could have guessed father's whereabouts as JAIL :)

Brainwaves,
I think you did your calculation wrong. Karen's age should be 20 1/4 and not 27 3/4. Now, that would have definitely given a clue about the father's whereabouts.

I did 5C = K + 6 instead of 5C + 30 = K + 6.
But my "sharp" mind already found the answer after your first clue :)

Interesting question for sure

You guys nailed it... C = -3/4 or -9 months and I assume everyone in the group have a fairly good idea of what that means..:)

That brings up an interesting question... I can understand the birthday concept.. But, in theory, our age should be ~9 months more than the age that we refer to, isnt it?

Age group - factor to find age

6-17 -(upto)(-11) months
17-25 -mostly accurate
25-55 -(upto) +11 months
55-62 -fairly accurate
62-90 - NO IDEA

actress -find the first movie and guess their age in that movie and calculate

Now you care about 9 months..hee hee heee

I think there must be local minima (more negative factor added) at the age=20,30,40 boundaries as well..:)

This was neat. Theoretically, Survivor's answer is right!
